The Olympus Pro Loaner Program contacted me and asked if I would like to test out their product for a two month period and do a review for them. Heck yeah!
Steve and I are headed to Mexico soon so it was perfect timing. I’ve been thinking a lot about going lighter with camera gear and making the change to mirrorless. And, it just so happens that Olympus checks off both of those boxes. I”m eager to try out their system.
Here’s a link to their website if you’d like to check ’em out. https://www.getolympus.com
They sent me an extensive kit that includes two of their cameras and four lenses. Here’s the lineup:
- OM-D E-M1 Mark II Body
- OM-D-EMIX Body
- MC-14 1.4 teleconverter
- M.Zuiko 40-150 f2.8 Pro Lens
- M.Zuiko 12-40 f2.8 Pro Lens
- M.Zuiko 7-14 f2.8 Pro Lens
- M.Zuiko 300mm f4 Pro Lens
I can’t wait to try them all out! We’re going to San Miquel de Allende which is often referred to as the Santa fe of Mexico. It is one of Mexico’s most well preserved colonial towns and from the pictures I have seen, it is charming as can be. The town is also known for having an extensive art community and a mutlitude of art galleries. I’m sure there will be tons of inspiration to be had!
In addition, we are going on excursions to the Monarch Butterfly Bioshere Reserve in hopes of witnessing the butterfly migration! I can’t wait! The lighter weight long Olympus lenses will certainly come in handy for this work! I will try out the other lenses on some nature intimate scenes and local street photography. We will be in San Miquel for an entire month. On either end of the trip we will be visiting both Steve’s family in Central Oregon and mine in Portland to have a bit of holiday cheer early on.
In case you want to check out San Miquel I inserted a little video below!
Stay tuned for results and take care! ~ Susan
